In
the churchyard, Paris came to visit Juliet’s tomb. He began scattering flowers
until he heard the whistle of the servant telling him that someone is
approaching. Romeo carrying a crowbar arrives with Balthasar whom he ordered to
leave to deliver the letter to Montague. But Balthasar lingers to watch. Paris
recognizes Romeo as the man who killed Tybalt and who indirectly murdered
Juliet. Paris accosts Romeo. Romeo pleads him to leave, but Paris refuses. They
draw their swords and fight. Romeo killed Paris. As he dies, Paris asks to be
laid near Juliet in the tomb and Romeo consents. Romeo speaks to Juliet of his
intention to spend eternity with her. He kisses Juliet, drinks the poison,
kisses Juliet again, and dies. Balthasar went to the tomb and placed an epitaph
for Romeo on Paris’ grave, and an epitaph for Paris on Romeo’s grave. Just
then, Friar Lawrence came and Balthasar says that he fell asleep but dreamed
that Romeo fought with and killed someone. Troubled, the friar went to the tomb
where he finds 2 epitaph’s with Paris’ and Romeo’s names. Suddenly, Juliet
awakes and asks the friar to where her husband is. The friar just nods his head
and Juliet seen 2 dead persons beside her. But, a grave-digger suddenly showed
up. Juliet was extremely shocked but she kindly asked the grave-digger to dig
Romeo’s grave. Yet, Friar Lawrence heard the watch and instantly left Juliet
with the grave-digger, and run. The digger finished digging but they saw Paris’
body on Romeo’s grave. Juliet asked the grave-digger again to dig for the other
grave. The Capulet’s, Montague, and the Prince arrived. They saw the wrong
identity between 2 men. Juliet seeing Romeo dead killed herself. The
grave-digger having vengeful powers determined that it was all because of
Balthasar. Balthasar showed up, asks for forgiveness, and asked to bring him in
jail as his punishment. The Capulet’s, Montague and the Prince agreed. Capulet
and Montague found out the true love between their children and decided that
their hostility is at an end. They thanked the grave-digger and suggested that
it will be the right hand man of the prince, and Prince Escalus agreed.
